Terephthalonitrile is a phthalonitrile compound. as excellent reaction intermediates in organic chemistry,aromatic nitrile compounds have been widely used in biology, medicine,pesticides,functional materials and other fields.

Terephthalonitrile is also an important chemical organic raw material. P-phenylenediamine can be obtained by hydrogenation of terephthalonitrile, which is an important raw material of polyamide and a good epoxy resin curing
agent; terephthalonitrile can be hydrolyzed to obtain terephthalic acid, which can be used to produce polyester resins, polyester fibers, films, insulating paints, engineering plastics and plasticizers; terephthalonitrile reacts with chlorine to obtain tetrachloroterephthalonitrile, which can be used to synthesize herbicides, pesticides and drugs.
